M/v Fidelio is part
of the family of Wallenius Lines, owning the largest car carriers
of the world and having one of the largest fleets. The ship is having
capacity for 8,000 cars or combination of 3,484 cars and 468 busses
or heavy vehicles. The car carrier m/v Fidelio is sister-ship of
m/v Faust, which we already mentioned in our reviews. The ship has
overall length of 227.80 meters and moulded beam of 32.26 meters.
The air draft of m/v Fidelio is 51.98 meters and maximum summer
draft is 11.30 meters. The ship is having 13 cars decks, 5 from
which are movable.
The cargo volume capacity of the car carrier
is 67,300 cubic meters and these measurements are giving to the
vessel deadweight of 30,137 metric tons. The car carrier has gross
tonnage of 71,583 gross tons and net tonnage of 33,546 net tons.
The ship can be loaded from two points � stern deck and starboard
deck. The both decks are having height of 6.50 meters and width
of 9.50 meters, with capacity of 260 tons. The ship is designed
according to latest requirements for stability and design. The engineering
is from highest class and the main engine is MAN B&W 7S60MC-C
with total power of 21,490 hp at 105 RPM. The propeller is with
fixed step with a high efficiency and power increase to provide
flap rudder makes up the propulsion and steering arrangement. For
easier maneuvering is installed a bow thruster with power of more
than 30t. The ship is really amazing is design, with large cargo
space and high quality engineering. The vessel has auxiliary diesel
generators STX-MAN-B&W 9SL21/31, which are providing power for
pneumatics of moveable decks, bow thruster and steering gear. Everything
on board is designed to be safety and environmental, in case this
ship to be profitable and quality. M/v Fidelio is having
very good accommodation for the crew on board. It is located on
the upper deck and master cabin is even on bridge deck. This situation
is far away from the engine room and the whole noise coming
with it. The accommodation has a unique layout with a two store
atrium and a top sky light. For high effect of crew work is required
good atmosphere of living, so the ship-designer decided to pay large
attention for the crew cabin. They are design with beautiful interior
and large private spaces. Together with this are installed large
number of attractions and entertainments for the free time of the
crew. Together with this the most important for m/v Fidelio is the
safety. It is provided by the portable fire extinguishers and CO2
system for the dangerous compartments. The environment of the ship
is provided by reducing the emissions with 20%, in comparison with
similar vessels. M/v Fidelio is really amazing, with increased the
power of the main engine and reducing the water resistance with
more than 4%, which also decrease the fuel consumption of the ship.
All this is making the ship very interesting and great designed.
