Definitely
the LNG Carriers are among the most dangerous ships sailing around
the seas. They are carrying compressed natural gas, which is flammable
and easily exploding. The gas carriers are having large requirements
for their machinery, their tanks and their support. The ship, which
will be in our eyes today, is the LNG Carrier Disha. This vessel
is one of the largest gas carriers built ever. The overall length
of the ship is 277.00 meters, while the length between perpendiculars
(important for ship maneuvering) is 266.00 meters. The moulded beam
of the LNG Carrier Disha is 43.40 meters and the moulded depth of
the ship is 26.00
meters. When the ship is fully loaded the draft can reach 11.40
meters. The ship has summer deadweight of 81,097 metric tons. The
gross tonnage of Disha is 94,058 gross tons, and the net tonnage
is 28,217 net tons. You can imagine what is the size of the ship
easily and will understand that the danger, which this vessel provides
is high in every mile sailed. Disha is newly built gas carrier,
property of India LNG Transport Company and operated by The Shipping
Corporation of India Ltd. The LNG Carrier was built in 2004 by Daewoo
Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering at their Okpo Shipyard. The
quality of the vessel is proven because too much requirements should
be followed by creating such large gas carrier. The ship Disha is
double hull, which is required for all tankers built after 1994.
The capacity for the tanks is for 138,097 cubic meters liquefied
natural gas. The machinery of the vessel is really reliable and
the main engine is a steam turbine from Kawasaki... date: 21st February, 2011
LNG
Lerici is one really interesting in designer point of view vessel.
The gas carrier has overall length of 216.14 meters, while the length
between perpendiculars is 205.00 meters. The beam of the gas carrier
is 33.90 meters. The ship has depth of 21.26 meters and draft of
8.20 meters, while fully loaded. The air draft of the vessel is
46.00 meters, while the distance between the keel and the top highest
point is 54.00 meters. The ship is really impressive with design
and engineering. We will give a little bit more specifications,
which are interesting from the navigation point of view. The distance
between the bow and the manifold is 105.72
meters. LNG Lerici has deadweight of 35,761 metric tons, while the
gross tonnage of the vessel is 46,555 gross tons. The ship has net
tonnage of 13,966 net tons and capacity of 65,299 cubic meters.
This beautiful LNG carrier was completed on 31st March 1998 in the
Fincantieri ship-yard in Genova, Italy. The ship is sailing under
Italian flag, having IMO number 9064085 and call sign IBBL. The
gas carrier is operated by LNG Shipping S.p.A. which is large Italian
company engaged in importing natural gas in the European company.
And definitely the most successful and most profitable vessel is
the carrier LNG Lerici. The ship has large cargo capacity and strong
engineering. LNG Lerici is really high quality vessel with strong
machinery... date: 14th October, 2009
Cheikh
El Mokrani is gas carrier, which can be compared with largest ships
of the world. Definitely talking about such vessel, we should mention
that this is Mediterranean Max LNG Carrier, which has capacity of
75,500 cubic meters of natural gas. Really Cheikh El Mokrani is
great prove for developing of ships industry and showing that even
in the most dangerous type of ships can be build large and reliable
vessels. The LNG Carrier Cheikh El Mokrani has overall length of
219.95 meters and beam of 22.55 meters. The draft of the vessel,
while fully loaded can reach 9.75 meters. These measurements are
giving to the ship deadweight of 38,164 metric ton, while the Gross
Tonnage is 52,855 gross tons. The LNG Carrier Cheikh El Mokrani
is driven by Steam turbine, which gives for the vessel power to
reach service speed of 17.5 knots, while the maximum ones can reach
more than 19.4 knots. This is very high speed even for Gas Carrier,
which is making the ship quite profitable for the company owning
it. This engineer wonder was built by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation
into its Tsu Shipyard . The order is consisted of two sister-ships
and the the company making such order is Mediterranean LNG Transport
Corporation. The ship will make regular routes between Algeria and
Western European... date: 14th October, 2009
Arctic
Voyager is really one of the most interesting, in engineer point
of view, ships carrying Liquid Natural Gas, built last years. The
vessel was ordered from Lloyds TSB Equipment Leasing and built by
the famous ship-builder Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation according
to requirements for the project “Norway Snowvit”. This
feature of the LNG Carrier means that vessel is with boosted hull,
which can sail in ice. The vessel was built according to latest
developments of shipbuilding and designed to endure heavy seas and
hard weather conditions. The overall length of Arctic Voyager is
289.50 meters, while the length between perpendiculars is 277.00
meters. The beam, of the vessel is 48.40 meters and the depth is
26.50 meters. The draft of Arctic Voyager, when the ship is fully
loaded can read maximum value of 11.90 meters. These measurements
are giving to the vessel deadweight of 75,434 metric tons, while
the Gross Tonnage is 118,571 gross tons. The cargo tank capacity
is over 140,000 cubic meters, which is large amount of cargo, which
can be transported by this new and modern LNG Carrier. Arctic Voyager
is really one of the most reliable ships, built ever. It is really
hard to design and build vessel.... date: 14th October, 2009
The
cargo ship Arctic Discoverer is one of the most impressive LNG Carriers
built last years. The ship has deadweight of 75,485 metric tons
and gross tonnage of 118,571 gross tons. The cargo capacity of the
gas carrier is 140,000 cubic meters. All these measurements are
really impressive, but the thing, which amused us was the Ice class
of the LNG Carrier. Such ships are really dangerous and even easier
pressure over the hull may cause explosion, but Arctic Discoverer
is designed to sail in the ice. The ship was built by Mitsui Engineering
& Shipbuilding Co Ltd. This is one of the high quality ship-yards
in Asia creating really amazing ship in design and engineer point
of view. The ship has overall length of 289.50 meters and length
between perpendiculars of 277.00 meters. The beam of the ice class
ship is 48.40 meters, draught of 26.50 meters and draft of 11.30
meters, when the ship is fully loaded. The important feature of
the ship is the ice strengthening of the hull, which allows for
the vessel to carry cargo in North Sea and other arctic seas. The
ship Arctic Discoverer is really good designed... date: 18th August, 2009
